The Big Comfy Bookshop proudly presents the award winning acoustic evening 'Comfy & Acoustic'.
Intimate performances from the best UK (and beyond) musicians covering folk, Americana, singer-songwriters and roots. 14+

Harri Endersby
From acoustic to electronic, Harri Endersby blurs the lines of the folk genre, drawing inspiration from both contemporary and traditional music, as well as the rugged landscape of County Durham, the place that she calls home.
Her debut album Homes/Lives, released in February 2017, has impressed critics around the country and she has had tracks played on BBC Radio 6, Radio Scotland, and Radio Wales. Homes/Lives presents a transition in style, beginning with acoustic, stripped-back tracks whilst gradually introducing electronic instrumentation and beats as the album progresses.
At live gigs, Harri is joined by husband Rich, who also plays guitar and percussion.

Tom Hyatt
Tom’s songwriting began to take form while studying Physics and Philosophy at Oxford: “I’d emerge bleary-eyed from the library post-midnight ready for bed, but head first to the college chapel piano to sing into the darkness”. After years distilling reality down to its fundamental parts, Lancashire-grown Hyatt headed to London in search of the long neglected right-side of the brain. Martin guitar in hand, the capital’s clubs and folk rooms soon reverberated with his original compositions. A reputation for captivating live shows began to grow amongst his contemporaries, as old habits lead Hyatt to distil the singer/songwriter down to it’s most compelling roots.

With performances at the likes of the National Portrait Gallery, Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Festival and Bestival, it was Spiritual Bar in Camden that would prove to be the best fit for Hyatt’s mind and music. It’s unique authenticity and eclectic scene of rock, folk and blues musicians honed Hyatt’s craft, captured on his debut live album, Live at Spiritual (2017).

Lucy Grubb
With heartfelt lyrics and Country undertones, Lucy focuses on telling you the unadulterated truth about a girl who was born and raised in a town not built for Country music.

Inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash, Lucy's understated guitar rhythms and Country trilled vocal melodies hark back to tried and tested traditional Country song writing, expressing grief, sorrow and heartbreak. Although lacking life experience, Lucy takes her own emotional turmoil and communicates it through gripping lyrical content and storytelling. “One cannot help but wonder where some of those lyrics are coming from, she’s obviously another ‘old soul’ with a huge talent for expressive songwriting.” — Richard Shashamane

With nods to songwriter Paul Simon, Lucy focuses on writing about the truth in a way that sets her apart from other songwriters. Like Simon, Lucy often likes to add a spin to the tone of her lyrics, sometimes witty or sarcastic to enhance the storytelling experience. Ultimately what makes her songs stand out is the ability to take them and create meaning unique to the individual.
